  I was impressed with the property initially: historic, carparking (about 8 parks) onsite, and I appeared to have been upgraded to a beautiful, big room! (albeit with some obvious age).
  Then I noticed the bathroom sink had soap marks on it, the shower had hairs in it and soap from the previous person, there were numerous hairs on the bed sheet and the bed smelled of the last person, the toilet rim had 2 pooh stains on it. The worst part - the staff had remade the bed... and put the 'clean toilet' paper sash you always find on the toilet... but this just wasn't true... The carpet also had not been vacuumed as there were obvious white crumbs in front of the tv. Dust on sills also.
  The reception staff were very polite and friendly and arranged to clean the room, but I note that they weren't startled at all by my complaint, so I imagine it wasn't the first time they'd been told this.
  Because of the lovely room, the friendly staff, the location, the history of the place, I wanted to give it a positive review, or just not review it. But, after having read other reviews regarding lack of cleaning, and hearing no vacuuming when other rooms were cleaned the day I left, I believe I need to warn guests of the obvious (dreadful) cleaning practices at this property. It is unacceptable - and unhygienic - to not clean a room, and particularly to lie and make a bed/put the paper sash on the toilet when they haven't been cleaned.
  This property's management/owner/s should be made to put in place proper cleaning procedures. Please do not stay there until they have.
